I am a slave to Prospero, and he does not treat me well. I saw lightning, dark clouds, and trees blowing in the wind one day when I was picking up logs. I also heard thunder, which I think is all Prospero’s doing because he just likes to torment me. Prospero always make me do so much unnecessary work because he thinks that he is better than me. I was first on this island, and since him and his daughter came they took over what is rightfully mine. When they first came here we helped each other, but now none of that matters. The only good I got out of being friends with them is that I can now curse at them in their language that Miranda taught me. I have done nothing to deserve to be a slave and stay captive in this cave. Prospero accuses me of violating his daughter, but I believe that I have done nothing wrong. I feel like I am not being treated fairly.
I have found a man that brings liquor and that can take me away from Prospero, Stephano is his name. I will help Stephano any way I can because I am now a faithful follower of him. I know that he treat me better than Prospero did. I also met Trinculo, and I was very scared when I first met them because I am not use to seeing many other people.
Trinculo, Stephano, and myself have come up with a plan to kill my old master. It will benefit us all if Prospero is gone, but I think I will be the most thrilled when he is gone. I despise Prospero for the way he treated me and also with him out of the way I will become a lord with Trinculo.
When me Stephano and Trinculo went to kill Prospero I got very irritated with them because all they did was waste time by fighting over clothes. I wanted to go through with our plan, but it seemed like they never actually had any intention of killing Prospero. I felt that the plan to Prospero was a failure not because of me but because of Trinculo and Stephano’s actions.
I decided to leave Stephano and go back to Prospero because he actually claimed me, and he forgave me even though I plotted to kill him and stole from him. I was very afraid that he would punish me, but instead he forgave me. I was foolish to ever serve under such a fool like Stephano. I see now that Prospero is a much better person than Stephano ever was or could be.
